Google Drive finally makes it easy to share, download and delete multiple files at once
Google has announced some small but welcome changes to how it works file management I work in google drive.
Over the next few weeks, a new multi-select file toolbar will begin appearing in the cloud backup app, making it easier to make bulk changes, and new “search layouts” will quickly find files by filtering on criteria such as file type, when the document was last modified and with whom the documents were shared.
News accompany several updates to the tech giant online cooperation ecosystem Google Workspaceincluding a “Material Design” aesthetic refresh, several new “smart canvas” features, and an overhaul text editor Google Docs.
Google Drive changes
All this talk about “smart chips” can be a bit confusing to be honest, so we’ll keep it simple. When this feature is rolled out, you will be able to filter by specific document types including documents, Spreadsheets, forms AND photosdirectly from the “My Drive” overview using the new drop-down menus.
Filter options also include PDF files, although unfortunately it looks like you won’t be able to filter specific file types from the new part of the interface.
The multi-select toolbar should be much easier to use, explicitly offering bulk actions to share, download, and delete files as opposed to hiding them in a cumbersome right-click context menu.
These quality of life improvements, while welcome, are by no means earth-shattering, and it’s a miracle that Google has waited until now to drag Drive along with the rest of Google Workspace into this century.
