The latest Garmin Forerunner 965 leak shows a redesigned map and system UI

New details of the upcoming Garmin smartwatch, Forerunner of the 965have been revealed by another rush online retailer, giving us our first look at the device in high definition.

The images are from SwimOutlet swimming retailer (opens in a new tab) showing the device in two different colors: metallic black and light green/yellow. At first glance, it seems that the bezel around the watch face is smaller compared to Forerunner of the 955. The extra space is likely dedicated to the new 1.4-inch AMOLED screen that the upcoming watch is reported to have. Other shots show what the system UI will look like on the device, such as more information displayed simultaneously on the home screen. The map function has also been refreshed. This time around, turn-by-turn directions take up less space on the Forerunner 965’s display, making it easier to see where you’re going using the map.

Other than that, little else has been revealed on SwimOutlet’s listing. It is not known what other features, whether new or returning, such as ECG app, it will be on the Forerunner 965. However, there is a price tag for the smartwatch: $599.99, which makes it cheaper than initial guesses. The release date remains a mystery, although a screenshot from iRun.Fr website (opens in a new tab), a French online retailer of fitness equipment, points to the launch on March 2, which is less than a week away. But even that date is debatable as others have claimed it is actually March 14.
